Flags, flags and more flags, it’s flag day

Luton manager Nathan Jones has been a bit of a problem for the swans over recent fixtures, he seems to save his best for this fixture. The swans won at the Liberty but it wasn’t pretty, in fact it wasn’t even ugly, it was worse than that. Coupled with the swans recent form, albeit seven points from nine, it’s still a worry if an out of form Swansea can get anything from this game. A change of form is needed. Quickly.

Nathan Jones has never made it easy for the swans - ever

Last time out
Luton lost at Norwich City 3-0, Swansea City drew at Blackburn Rovers.

Previously
Since 2004 the swans have won five out of the last fixtures in all competitions. Last season Swansea won 1-0 at Kenilworth Road, and Luton won 1-0 at the Liberty.

Luton Facts
The club was founded in 1885 and became the first professional team in southern England in 1891. Back then it was over a hundred years ago. The side was promoted to the top-flight in 1981—82 and won the 1987—88 League Cup Final with a 3—2 victory over Arsenal. The club stayed in the top division until 1992. Then they left. They have never played in the premier league.

Charles Arthur Salvador (formerly Charles Ali Ahmed; Bronson, born Michael Gordon Peterson
The man known as Charlie Bronson, Britain’s longest serving inmate ( 47 years currently )is from Luton, he is quite old now, 69 next birthday, but would still give a few millennials a right good kicking as long as there wasn’t more than five of them at a time. Bronson wrote the foreword to Tommy Robinson’s book about his hooligan endeavours. A bit like Cardiff City it should have been a three page pamphlet, the front and back Included. The middle page for a picture of Walter Mitty.

Charles Bronson amongst other names is as hard as a hard thing from hardshire

Luton’s Star Man
A Manchester United academy graduate, the 26-year-old brings a huge amount of Championship experience to Kenilworth Road, having spent a majority of his career in the second tier. After he made two appearances in the League Cup, Tunnicliffe left Old Trafford in 2014, having spent time on loan at Peterborough United, Barnsley and Ipswich Town, joining Fulham for an undisclosed fee in 2014. He spent three-and-a-half years there, again, heading out on loan, this time to Blackburn Rovers and Wigan Athletic. He joined Millwall in 2017, spending two-years there, before joining the Hatters in the summer. Tunnicliffe made 40 appearances during his first season at Kenilworth Road, scoring his one and only goal in the 1-0 away victory against Middlesborough. At nine years old, Ryan was playing for Manchester United’s youth teams, and his dad managed to get odds on 100-1 on his son featuring for the first team, which earned him £10,000 in 2012.

Running to the cliff, that’s Ryan

The conversations around CH are similar to those had about Gylfi.

Exactly. Both special teams players in NFL terms. Neither 90 minute contributors

How? Gylfi worked hard didn't he? Maybe my memory is completey shot but I don't remember anyone saying Gylfi unbalanced the team or hid?

He was often accused of unbalencing the team. He worked bloody hard though.

As gylfi was playing more of a 10 role if he wasn’t in the game at all but scored it was ok
Connor in midfield doing nothing apart from the odd assist or spectacular goal usually means we lose the midfield battle and struggle to play football

Getting a bit sick of our players whinging at the ref for free kicks all the time. No wonder he's dishing out the yellows.

Yep.

Around 10 games left, I couldn’t give a damn how we get the points. We just need to get them.

We have severe squad issues and people need to realise that. It’s incredible we find ourselves where we are.

Fulton and Lowe on which are good players to come on at this stage. A bit of steel and an out ball.

I think its plain we have had a lucky season where things have gone for us, another season they could go against us and we'd be fighting relegation rather than promotion.

Take it though.

Yes which is why we’ve adopted this win at all costs mentality. It’s not pretty to watch but it’s got us to where we want to be.

You'll be shocked that I'm disagreeing but how is constantly sitting back against opposition "win at all costs mentality". I also wonder how the "win at all costs mentality", this squad, it's current playing "style" would even survive if we managed promotion.

As DrP said it's quite something that we are where we are in the table and I would profer that it is "a battle to the end mentality" and taking your luck where and when it appears. This is why I believe that Andre is constantly selected as he needs only a little bit of luck to turn it into a goal scoring opportunity.

I think maybe Ayew would be better for us in the hole, play him as a 10? His control is good, the ball sticks and he usually keeps possession.

Maybe play Lowe and Whittaker up front, or just Lowe OR Whittaker?

In a 3421 Ayew and Houri or Dhanda because Ayew makes up the work rate too. Or swithc to 3412?

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

I wouldn’t put any of it down to luck. You can’t be lucky after 30+ games, the margins aren’t that small between promotion and relegation.

We deserve to be where we are, but we have had to work incredibly hard for it.

It’s not luck though. We have generally starved teams of clear cut chances. Our defensive record is good for a reason and it would be a massive disservice to describe it as luck.

Why are our performance levels so down on what they were in the first part of the season? We used to dominate teams..now every win even is a scrap to hold on.

Many on here missed the modifier in my comment on CH & GS. That was SIMILAR comments. Both were accused of unbalencing the team both were called rolls royce players in the matchday. I was not making a direct comparison, hence the word SIMILAR.

Cooper said that fatigue isn't an issue and you can still play well when if the whole first eleven are fatigued.

I believe he was saying they have to play through it, not that its not an issue.

We weren't lucky for mostof the season, we did play very well. This last 5/6 weeks though we have ridden our luck. A couple of dubious penalty decisions, including one today, was that a pen for Luton?

Many, many times there have been complaints about us scoring then dropping too deep. It was fine when we were playing well but we look a lot more liable to concede a goal more recently.

EDIT, having seen the replay it was never a pen.

I’m sure most fans think that. Brentford should have conceded an injury time penalty against Blackburn, wasn’t given. They got a penalty themselves and they won the match.

Better teams tend to win, but they don’t always play better than their opposition.
