Flags, flags and more flags, it’s flag day

Luton manager Nathan Jones has been a bit of a problem for the swans over recent fixtures, he seems to save his best for this fixture. The swans won at the Liberty but it wasn’t pretty, in fact it wasn’t even ugly, it was worse than that. Coupled with the swans recent form, albeit seven points from nine, it’s still a worry if an out of form Swansea can get anything from this game. A change of form is needed. Quickly.

Nathan Jones has never made it easy for the swans - ever

Last time out
Luton lost at Norwich City 3-0, Swansea City drew at Blackburn Rovers.

Previously
Since 2004 the swans have won five out of the last fixtures in all competitions. Last season Swansea won 1-0 at Kenilworth Road, and Luton won 1-0 at the Liberty.

Luton Facts
The club was founded in 1885 and became the first professional team in southern England in 1891. Back then it was over a hundred years ago. The side was promoted to the top-flight in 1981—82 and won the 1987—88 League Cup Final with a 3—2 victory over Arsenal. The club stayed in the top division until 1992. Then they left. They have never played in the premier league.

Charles Arthur Salvador (formerly Charles Ali Ahmed; Bronson, born Michael Gordon Peterson
The man known as Charlie Bronson, Britain’s longest serving inmate ( 47 years currently )is from Luton, he is quite old now, 69 next birthday, but would still give a few millennials a right good kicking as long as there wasn’t more than five of them at a time. Bronson wrote the foreword to Tommy Robinson’s book about his hooligan endeavours. A bit like Cardiff City it should have been a three page pamphlet, the front and back Included. The middle page for a picture of Walter Mitty.

Charles Bronson amongst other names is as hard as a hard thing from hardshire

Luton’s Star Man
A Manchester United academy graduate, the 26-year-old brings a huge amount of Championship experience to Kenilworth Road, having spent a majority of his career in the second tier. After he made two appearances in the League Cup, Tunnicliffe left Old Trafford in 2014, having spent time on loan at Peterborough United, Barnsley and Ipswich Town, joining Fulham for an undisclosed fee in 2014. He spent three-and-a-half years there, again, heading out on loan, this time to Blackburn Rovers and Wigan Athletic. He joined Millwall in 2017, spending two-years there, before joining the Hatters in the summer. Tunnicliffe made 40 appearances during his first season at Kenilworth Road, scoring his one and only goal in the 1-0 away victory against Middlesborough. At nine years old, Ryan was playing for Manchester United’s youth teams, and his dad managed to get odds on 100-1 on his son featuring for the first team, which earned him £10,000 in 2012.

Running to the cliff, that’s Ryan

Not simply brave, but very clever in so many ways.

Some say CH should not OF being playing. Not a clue.

We're a different proposition with Bennett bossing. Our best spine is restored and balanced (FW - RB - MG - CH-AA). Our previously woeful distribution from the back speaks volumes. Grimes doesn't have to sit so deep to protect and cajole.

Let's hope our clever selection, ongoing rotation and unrivalled spirit and self confidence continues to prevail. And keep the ignorant doom merchants in their place, behind their sofas, with their eyes wide shut.

The clever use of subs capped an excellent performance by our players and management team. Men v boys on and off the pitch, and on the forum.

A few doom and gloom merchants will be disappointed, still cowering, hiding behind their sofas.

Some of the comments by some supporters (not fans obvs) are telling. "Atrocious football" (according to another clueless) ; bossing the game with controlled defending under Bennett's leadership, puts us into 2nd place and solidifies our auto promo place.

Happy days for us fans who applaud when we're happy at seeing yet another clever, masterful performance.

Onwards and upwards for some of us who can See. Some twps always look, but never can, or will, ever See.

They seem infatuated by us, a losers mentality is what they have. Looking to others, blaming everyone but themselves.

Let's hope that that mentality infects their squad. Usually I maintain that we should just concentrate on winning our games and we will be fine. Currently with our dysfunctional play we need others to have nghtmares of their own. Amazed but happy with our points recently.

Lots on here will be absolutely gutted we won.

There will be complaints on how we played today and I would be one of them, but that pitch was horrendous. Hard work to play on that.

My gripe today is with how dodgy woodman looked

"It doesn't matter," he said.

"Even if they are, it doesn't mean you can't play well and win, so it's irrelevant really whether they are or they aren't."

I believe we have a difference in how we interpret his words, you take it literally while I read it different, I read it as he is resigned to the fact that the players are tired and they have to play well regardless.

We won today, that's two of the three away games done and we have 4 points, not to bad, with Bournemouth left, who are going through their own issues. Then the resurgent Cardiff who now have a manager playing them t their strengths and have instilled belief in them.

If we gain another 4 points I'd be happy with that (prefer 6 of course).

Then we have that international break, usually these happen when we are playing well and it breaks our stride, now it can't come soon enough for me.

Gutsy win Swans! Lots of errors but lots of commitment and determination too. They belied their lowly position - I thought they were slick and classy and their midfielder, Dewsbury-Hall was deservedly MoM, even if he does sound like a National Trust property. I’d love to see him and Mpanze in Swans colours - good players. They had a few others who impressed as well. In short they were a right handful and we did well to hang on from the 3rd minute. Freddy settled down well second half after his first-half brain farts. Overall I thought he did well. Good win.

Woodman gave a few scares and definitely could have done better in a few instances, but I do believe he was placed in awkward positions being passed to in tight positions as if he was part of a midfield 3 in the centre of the pitch.

But it isn’t an issue now, we are 2nd and many don’t think we are playing well. But hey you read what you want to. How is that luck? I don’t believe in the notion of luck over the season, or isolating a few games to shoehorn a narrative. If we have been lucky in one game then it’s likely we have been unlucky in another. That’s football.

Luton can be as sure as they like that they deserved more, but they didn’t. They couldn’t score. They weren’t unlucky, there was no luck involved in them not scoring. There was no luck involved in our goal. Just don’t buy the luck angle.

But yes, let’s hope Cardiff do us a favour.

No team can continue playing poorly week after week and keep winning.

Good luck could be winning when you don't deserve too, when the opposition have a string o decent chances but fail to convert them. It's hardly bad luck for us is it? It's not all about luck either, it's about performances and can you say we have played well this last 5 weeks?

We've worked hard yes but hard work by itself is often not enough in any sport, you need quality too and even a bit of luck here and there.

Look at the stats again today, we had 2 shots on target out of 8, Luton 5 on target out of 12. It's just as well stsats don't decide the result because the only thing Luton were worse than us at was being offside.

Doesn't our lack of total attempts bother anyone, let alone only 2 on target. We are massively over performing compared to the stats. It was pointed out earlier in the season.

You can ignore luck as much as you like but it plays it's part in everything.

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

Turgid describes that game.
Misery is what football it is.
Im actually embarrassed to win like this.

It's great to win but let's be honest with ourselves and ourselves is what this board is about. It s our team.

The twps to me are the Freddie fans.It really is insulting to the very decent keepers we've had between the sticks. I don't remember keepers like Mike Hughes get this love, nor even Roger Free. Fab was clearly underloved. THAT is what shocks me.

Did they have decent chances though? Apart from their offside goal they didn’t have any real clear opportunities. Couple of crosses flashed across and a few weak headers. There was nothing there really which anybody would have said “they should have scored there”. We had one chance which anybody would have been screaming if he hadn’t scored.

I’m not a massive fan of this park the bus stuff but today was fairly comfortable.
