We've played in the Prem with wingers half as good as Pablo's, one of the reasons we're not in the Prem I suppose.

I’m not so sure. I think he’s at his level now. No disrespect o him but there’s a gulf between the Championship and the PL. Could well be wrong of course, clever player.

I don’t think his injury record was as bad as people make out. A quality player for us & since. Oh to have a Pablo playing for us now.

Personally I wouldn't swap Dan James for Pablo. Dan is "in the game" far more than Pablo ever was. Pablo used to have lazy days when he just didn't want to do anything. Footballers are like summers I guess, we just remember the good days.

I agree. I enjoyed watching him play for us and would love it if he still did. His quality was obvious as soon as he came on at Villa Park for us in 2012.
Pablo on 10:54 - Mar 2 with 1405 views | AnotherJohn | Pablo's departure was a bit of a mystery. Monk had moved him to a more central role and he hit a purple patch just before he left. I wondered if his decision to go to Al-Arabi was about the general exodus of Spanish players and him feeling that his days were numbered. When he tired of the desert he went on loan to Rayo Vallecano, and I was only one of a couple on the forum who said he might be worth a look. He was better than the wingers we had when we went down, but I would have fielded him as a midfield play-maker in a central role.
Pablo on 16:19 - Mar 2 with 1280 views | icecoldjack | No real mystery, Pablo wanted an extension to his contract and the club decided not to give it to him as they thought 2 yrs was too much considering his wages and age, he had an offer for longer elsewhere so went. Small time thinking once again.

Aye then we handed out long term contracts to the likes of Bartley Dyer Routledge & Naughton

To me the mystery was why others got deals of more than a year and Pablo didn't. He wasn't that old.

My real fear is if we lose Pablo to injury in our final eleven games, we have no ideal replacement, Hernandez is a class act who makes us tick Good win for your boys today

The 12/13 season was our high water mark as a club. If we ever get that close to perfection again we'll have done well.

Yeah he was very very talented with us. His big issue was he kept picking up niggling injuries and he could struggle sometimes with the pace and physicality of the premier league but his quality was never in question.
